About O2
O2 is a mobile network operator and telecommunications services provider in the United Kingdom, under the company name of Telefonica UK Limited. The company was originally formed in 1985 as Cellnet by the BT Group and was one of the earliest mobile phone networks to launch in the UK, and later rebranded as O2 UK.
02 is one of the largest network operators in the UK and provides 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G services to millions of customers in the United Kingdom, as well as to other mobile virtual network operators (MVNO).
About EE
EE (formerly Everything Everywhere) currently has the biggest network coverage in the UK, covering over 99% of the UK population with their mobile network infrastructure. EE Mobile introduced the first 4G network to the United Kingdom in October 2012 and launched the first UK 5G network in May 2019.
EE consistently ranks as the fastest mobile network operator in the UK, according to various independent speed tests. Its 5G network has the highest average download speeds and lowest latency, while its 4G network also delivers fast internet speeds.
Along with providing mobile telecommunication services to consumers and small to medium sized businesses, EE also offers home and business broadband using mobile and fixed line connections.
The EE company was formed in 2010 as a fifty-fifty joint venture between Deutsche Telekom and Orange S.A. (previously France Télécom) through the merger of their respective T-Mobile and Orange mobile businesses in the UK.
In 2020, EE was acquired by BT Group, and it now operates as a subsidiary of the British Telecom Group.
